Hello again folks. It was the wise advice here in these forums that finally drove me to start Allopurinol, back in March I think. I've been on 300 mg daily from the start, the Doc didn't ramp me up with low doses at first. My uric acid level a month after starting had dropped from 9.6 to 5.3 Haven't had another uric acid test since then. Had several minor attacks in many joints previously affected by gout after starting the meds, but they stopped within two or three months.
Life's been a lot better, until 1 month ago when I got a pretty bad gout attack in the left big toe, which I got over quickly, within 1.5 weeks. Then 11 days ago, BAM, another attack, very bad, in my right knee, just got off crutches a day ago.
What to do now that attacks have started again despite 300 mg Allopurinol per day?
Get another UA test? Ask doc to increase Allopurinol dosage?
The doc said I shouldn't ever have another attack after starting Allopurinol. Do you guys still get attacks occasionally?
